Credit card debt management much preferred compared to mortgage debt management

It has been found out that there is a change in preference among consumers on the way they handle debts and mortgages. This is greatly attributed to the recession that happened which changed how consumers practice having credit card debt management first before the mortgage debt management. This is also reported by TransUnion as being consistent for three years.

Being default in the mortgage payments is currently seen by consumers as more acceptable rather than being delinquent in paying off their credit cards. The housing market is also linked to this change in preference primarily because of the decreasing home prices and also increased high unemployment of individuals.

There is a significant increase of 7.4% among consumers who had great credit card debt management in quarter 3 but are not that timely on their mortgage payments. On the other hand, there is the 3.03% who are timely on their mortgages but delinquent on their credit cards. This percentage is also considered to be the lowest among all.

As such, the consumers are also advised to get recommendations and advice from a reputable credit counseling agency in order to combat the effects that recessions had on them. These agencies can present you with options and they can help in budgeting and timely payments both for credit card debt management and mortgage payments.
